We aim to establish a long-term relationship with all clients. We have acquired a number of other practices, but the steady growth of our business has been mainly from personal recommendations through existing clients. We value the fact that clients and staff stay with us and recommend us to others!
Our partners have outside business interests which give us an excellent appreciation of the challenges and difficulties experienced by business today. Our managers have all worked in a wide variety of professional and business environments, to complement our service and advice to clients.
Historically, we have been involved in a number of unusual projects, including setting-up the East of England Orchestra (now called "ViVA"), Nottingham Homestart and the Derby & Sandiacre Canal Trust. We have managed and advised on the finances of a wide range of interesting and challenging assignments, including sports clubs, cricketers' benefit years, environmental groups, and major funding applications including the National Lottery. We have a separate large payroll bureau and provide accounting services to a number of businesses, including TV, radio and sports personalities.

Diane Lockwood at Ling Phipp has looked after me for the last 8 years. Always helpful and accommodating. It’s good to know she is there when I need advice and certainly has saved me money over the years. I can thoroughly recommend Ling Phipp.
Simon Haley , Sole Trader
Most people treat their accountants with dread and fear but it is a real pleasure to see Ling Phipp – they are friendly and approachable – and they are not too bad at the maths either.
Matthew Hoggard, Leicestershire County Cricket Club
former England International Test Cricketer/Yorkshire CCC
Ling Phipp have been my accountants, advisors and friends since I first became self employed back in 1998. They have guided me through the minefields of sole trader and Ltd Company, helped with tax advice, and provided 'idiot proof' form-filling assistance.
Their expertise in the needs of media professionals is exceptional. They are never too busy to listen and are endlessly patient with late and missing paperwork. I would recommend their services to anyone in the media world - and beyond.
Clare Tomlinson, Sky Sports
Paul Turner from Ling Phipp was recommended to us by a colleague and he has become a key, influential figure in our business. Not only has he dealt with all our financial, tax and VAT matters, but he has helped us enormously in our business development. Paul offers honest and practical advice, is extremely professional and has a warm friendly manner, we regard him as one of the team!
Brian Barwick, Barwick Media & Sports LLP
Former Chief Executive Football Association
We have found the support offered by Ling Phipp, and in particular by partner Diane Lockwood, to be invaluable during our first years of operation and since gaining charity status in 2007.
As business manager of Cultivate, I have worked closely with Diane over the last few years through our annual audit and production of year end accounts which have always been completed in agreed timescales. I have enjoyed working with Diane who is very supportive and always willing to answer any queries and offer advice – particularly in more complex areas such as VAT and in looking into new charity software packages. Diane has also regularly attended our Annual General Meetings and her attendance and participation has been appreciated by our Board of Trustees.
Keren Brammam, Cultivate
As manager of Erewash Citizens Advice Bureau, I have worked with Diane Lockwood of Ling Phipp on the preparation of two sets of annual accounts, one of which was independently examined, the other subject to full audit.
I have found Ling Phipp to be both professional and pragmatic and, as the manager of a relatively small organisation, I have found their guidance and advice invaluable. They take a proactive approach to ensuring that clients meet their statutory obligations and they understand the requirements of the charity sector.
In my experience, all Ling Phipp staff have been pleasant and helpful and we have consistently met our target dates even when matters were complicated by a change of system coupled with a first full audit. My experience of dealing with Ling Phipp has been positive overall and I have never encountered any problems in my dealings with them.
Sara Lagoe, Derbyshire Dales, Amber Valley & Erewash Citizens Advice Bureau
Ling Phipp have been flexible in agreeing dates to meet, completion of work within timeframes set by our organisation and working with new Trustees when necessary. Work has always been completed within target dates agreed.
I have found the staff of Ling Phipp friendly and approachable whilst being fair, thorough and challenging when necessary. I have always felt able to ask questions (even if naive at times) and have appreciated the practical guidance and advice offered.
